A babysitter my sister was interviewing at our shared home in Vermont met my almost two year old son Ryder and casually commented:
"oh look at this one with a mullet!"
I did not realize this was the nature of my son’s hair-do, admittedly it was getting a little long in the back. “They have haircuts next Friday!” I responded to this funny observation. A few days later we were playing and Ryder kept exclaiming out of nowhere “I have a mully!!” as he pointed to the side of his head. When I realized he was telling us he had a mullet family hysterics and of course videoing said renditions of Ryder repeating his hair-do name ensued.
It most certainly has to be the little things. I take that life advice to my core. I might remind myself to soak in before the rush of school lunches and a diaper change and getting dressed: carrying my boys, their warm sleepy little bodies, their flush kissable cheeks, down the stairs to start our day. On this morning I hold one in each arm. I know it is fleeting. Everyone tells you so. But I already know.
So why Substack? I want to write. Sometimes. I want to share my blog. Sometimes. There’s a hesitancy, are blogs so passé?! I want to share with you where I am traveling through an abundance of pictures and writing and not on a TikTok or a reel. If I am being completely honest.
I want to acknowledge the podcast Moms Night Out as I borrowed the title of this very first post from theirs. They can be found on Spotify if you’d like to listen.
Sometimes you don’t know where to start, but it has to be somewhere! So just fucking start!
My blog can be found here.
Love this for you, Kristen!
I don't think blogs will ever be passe. And blogging on Substack just makes sense.
