W I N T E R is all the rage for me. Always has been. How are you doing in the season as it stretches on? The end of February breathes in Pisces Season, so it always feels like a welcome shift in energy at this point in the year. Happy solar return to my fellow Pisces babies!
If you know someone traveling to Woodstock, VT or who might be looking to plan a spa escape, please share this post with them!
The Woodstock Inn Resort + Spa is a serene and enchanting locale with calming earth tones, soaring ceilings, and Vermont inspired luxury. Guests can enjoy the relaxing spa round up of steam room, sauna + hot tub^ alongside treatments. Perhaps an indulgent 90 minute body scrub (my sister) or a lavender hot stone massage (moi).
This mid-winter sister escape came in the form of Christmas gift cards from our husbands. I love a thoughtful present in the name of something-to-do. We skied in the morning and did not hesitate to bookend the spa afternoon with Mont Vert Cafe maple lattes x shopping* and on the other end Au Comptoir cocktails x Dinner at Santé.
Woodstock, Vermont embodies endless charm in every season. Releasing tension at the spa and cozied up at a faintly lit cocktail bar after a morning on the mountain is one way to embrace winter, and secure a little break from the kiddos!
^we are all about the Nordic / Scandinavian Spa (hydrotherapy) principles. You alternate between hot soaks, cold plunges, and quiet relaxation. The 3 stage system works to achieve many wonderful things for your body like improved circulation, soothed skin and muscles, immune system boosts, reduced stress, and an invigorated mind!
*Central Street in Woodstock is lined with luxe local shops. With fresh lattes in hand we limited ourselves (so many shops have signs posted on the door: no food and drink!) but ultimately scored big. We wandered into Elevation Clothing with no keep out sign to steer us away. A stylish winter haven of Faherty, Patagonia, Stio, Kari Traa, Barbour and more welcomed us as the shopkeeper announced their big sale — pick a heart and reveal a surprise % off. Upon checkout I scored a 40%. Huge savings and my dry January streak of not buying stuff: broken!
Santé can be found at 16 Central Street. The Halibut had lots of briny olives under a deluge of breadcrumbs, a bracing compliment to the slightly sweet, flaky fish. Au Comptoir located at 14 Mechanic Street is a must embrace mood.
Speaking of seasons, soon I’m planning to kick off my spring/summer/fall guides to Cape Cod, Massachusetts by town. These will be free right now but perhaps an offering for paid subscribers in the future.
Also this month: I wrote a H E R O post. It is not a post I sent via email as it more of an “explanation” and because the Substack about page is somewhat hidden within the platform (depending on how you’re navigating). As I was writing it I decided / flowed into starting my Cape Cod guides. I will welcome all your feedback and suggestions as I publish and refine them!
I love welcoming new subscribers (hii, elated you’re here, so glad for each and every one of you!!) See you all same time — same place — next week!
Bob & Alex are the best gift givers!
Hi, Kristen, I saw the note you left, wanted to let you know that it was showing “paid” because I gave a free complementary forever subscription to everyone who had many opens of my emails and articles. If you want me to send that again let me know!
