Are You Having Enough Fun?!
On The Map is the embrace of New England in every season and a cool blast of nostalgia. The magic of a winter forest and the seduction of ocean waves. OTM is collecting hotel key cards and antique soda bottles. She is relishing an in flight meal. We are here for strong espresso, happy kids, après ski, and loves enduring power.
welcome. stay awhile!
While publishing this newsletter, I thought about what else do I feel connected to in this life? Yes, I love writing — about travel and food, books and experiences, relationships and my kids. But what are the dreams I shyly tucked away? With my writing on a spiritually guided trajectory, I felt it somewhere deep, from an energetic well, a tug at my soul — go that way, do this now.
It’s not delusion when you understand how intuition works. Right? RIGHT?!
The journey itself is a good one if it’s complex and twisted fate, involving of grit and determination. I naively set out to break into a world where my genre of choice turned out to be the hardest fought. Everyone has a story. A vast and voracious collection of writers want to tell theirs. Why should you care about mine? Because we need outrageous, rebellious, intuitively guided stories from a radically authentic coming of age in the 1990s and 2000s. A time before ALL THIS and as the timeline propelled right into it! [Social Media and its power. A creative net worth based on subscriber numbers and likes.] When handheld screens didn’t exist and being online was never the point, how did we navigate our complex romantic relationships? Well, we definitely had wild reckless fun while we figured everything out.
Why me? If you believe like I believe, in synchronicity and magic, that’s why. If you don’t, that’s also why. I’ve existed on the edge of my written experiences based on limiting beliefs. Fear. You, are not them. Well of course. You are only, you. Which is not the entire point but a part of it. The creative spirit persists — my stories didn’t feel exactly right for my newsletter — they felt right: for a book.

The Universe called. They’re asking you to tell your story. Well, you’ve always been telling your story, because you’ve always been listening. Only now they’re transmitting: how about we work together, to turn the journals you’ve kept your entire life — into a manuscript! And because you are writing a BOOK, with a plot, a core wound, and character arcs, we need to give it a much tighter narrative. You need to understand that memoir is a slice of your life, maybe even the whole pie, but certainly not the entire bakery. You will write scenes that serve a purpose and sequels that allow clarity. You will move the story along at a pace that is exciting and fulfilling to the reader and one that allows your creativity to flow as a writer.
There is a writer high, and a writer come down. Keep writing your book, the Universe said. At every intersection of questioning my faith in myself as a writer, their signs propelled me forward in my divinely guided journey. Keep going, don't stop, keep going.
